So, we just learnt Revit change units and the next but most important thing is How to measure in Revit or Revit dimension settings.  First you have to measure the distance between 2 elements.  This depends on what you are measuring.

Now, the measure tool gives you a quick way for measuring and also for temporarily displaying, including the length (and also the horizontal angle if you require). These are all about the individual walls or about the model lines you will be needing to select in plan views.

Also, in elevation views, you will use this exact tool for selecting only the ends of your model walls. These will be running perpendicular to the view direction (for displaying the wall height).

In both your plan and elevation views of the project,  you can create a line or even some chains  of line. These lines will be connecting the points that you will specify.

Also, in this process after learning how to change units in Revit in at of these cases, the dimensions that the tool has generated will stay  on the screen. And, it will remain on the screen until you will start your next measurement or until you exit the tool.

Also, the tool will display the length dimensions on the  Options Bar in the total length box.

Note: If you want to draw detail or lengthy lines, you can use the Measure Between Two References tool. This will be in the form of arrow and you can use it  to measure the length or the reference points. However, please note that you will not use the Measure Along An Element line to measure a detail line. That’s  because the line will not be a model element.
